Joshua Goldberg is ecstatic to be returning to New Hampshire Theatre Project! An alum of the NHTP Youth Repertory Company, Josh is a current sophomore at Bennington College where he studies drama, playwriting, and music. His original musical An Oz Story, adapted from L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, debuted on the NHTP stage in 2015. He has written and directed a number of other locally-performed youth musicals including Candy Country, Little Red Spying Hood, and The Pied Piper, and recently directed and co-produced a teen acted and designed production of the musical Smile. Josh has worked at a number of summer theatre camps and on dozens of youth productions with theatres including Upside Arts, the Portsmouth Academy of Performing Arts, and NHTP’s own Youth Theatre Camp.
Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairytale, this brand-new musical adaptation of The Little Mermaid goes back to its roots as a moving tale of love, choice, and sacrifice. The Little Mermaid dreams of seeing the world above that she’s heard about in her Grandmother’s stories, and on her sixteenth birthday she can finally rise above the seas like her sisters before her. When a Prince on a nearby ship is flung overboard into the stormy waters, the Little Mermaid saves his life and changes her own forever. A visit to the Sea Witch can give the Little Mermaid all she’s ever wanted, but is she willing to pay the price?
Please note: This production is based on the original story- it is NOT the Disney version.
